You just lost the game, LULZ!! Okay, no. *ahem* OrionWave is finally back, after like a month and a half of vacation time due to people having exams or working. In my case, the latter (Comic Party). Now that the first issue is done, I can gradually prepare for the second issue, so I won’t be completely overworked again, and while doing so, I’ll finally have time to get back to scanlating Grappler Baki and work on the OrionWave projects, so yay~

Discovered some specific errors in 17b thanks to some flashbacks in this part, where the ambiguous phrasing played a crucial part in understanding most of what was going on in 17c. Unfortunately, these had not been translated as such, so we ended up having to do a revised version of 17b as well OTL

I was finally back on a C.M.B. chapter, wuuuuw~! Unfortunately, since I had to go to Serbia, I could only do a brief QC, and then did some correspondence with Yashi who took over. So not cool, but physical therapy was a bit more important so… ;>.>

Finally back in the game, doing some QC. Anyway, this chapter was made into an episode of the Q.E.D. live action drama, but the manga characters are a lot more sympathetic, which also includes the douche bag lead singer. Here is some random info arg from the team wrote about mushrooms:

Mushrooms are the fruiting bodies of fungi, producing spores for dispersal. In the soil, there is a dense network of filaments or threads collectively called the mycelium. A fungus eats by injecting enzymes into the soil, then absorbing the nutrients. Many fungi and plants have a symbiotic relationship, with the plant providing sugars to the fungi and the fungi aiding in the uptake of inorganic compounds like nitrogen (in NO3 form) and phosphorus (as PO4) as well as water.

I was ‘transferred’ out of part 2, since I’m currently QCing chapter 3 of C.M.B., so didn’t have that much to do with this other than a page here and there and then answering the occasional question. I however translated the first four pages of this part out of sheer boredom, but they were pretty simple anyway, so I hope BamBam didn’t mind ^^’

Anywho, I’m now leaving for Serbia for a few weeks for physical therapy, but I’ve made some posts in advance that will publish automatically at certain points. I’m handing in the first part of chapter 3 of C.M.B. in a few hours, so that should be out too soon. Toodles~

I suddenly got moved to QCing this chapter because we all got pretty busy in OW and had no one else to fill in than me, but I got an eye infection in the meantime that made it hard for me to see anything, so the delay of this chapter was mostly my fault. Sorry ^^’

I’m doing better now though, even though my eyes still itch a lot, so the last part of the chapter + part 2 of C.M.B. chapter 1 will hopefully be out soon.

Orionwave release of chapter 1 of C.M.B. by Katou Motohiro, entitled “Mimicry“.

C.M.B. is a shounen mystery manga by Motohiro Katou, the same guy who released Q.E.D., the other manga being released by OrionWave. While Q.E.D. covers several fields of science mostly based on mathematics and physics, C.M.B. is mainly focused on history and natural science.

The characters of both manga are extremely similar though; both have strong female leads (Kana vs. Nanase) proficient in martial arts (kendo vs. aikido) who are accompanied with ditzy, yet brilliant young boys (Touma vs. Shinra).

Release of part 3 might not be out until the end of July since we haven’t really started on it and we’re about to go on holiday D8

I did a loooot of crazy ass QCing during group QC on this one (and also wrote the note about mimesis) ;>.> I really wish we could have a second QCer with Jap experience soon since I feel like I’m being spread a little thin at the time when double-checking translations (which are from Indonesian to English) with the original Jap RAWs, and with Genki and stuff getting in the way, I’m starting to delay people, which is SO not cool! D8

But ya, the chapter was pretty crazy, and finding all the animal names in English, or even Latin, was such a pain. I only found the Latin name for the butterfly that is the focus point of the story because it was (THANKFULLY) mentioned on like page 7 of a Japanese online newsletter for butterfly enthusiasts OTL

It was a bit of a hectic chapter for various reasons, but it all turned out well in the end, so it’s all good.

The chapter contains several math references, and as such, we have 3 pages worth of notes courtesy of our resident math geek, yasiru, one of our translators, Saturn Beaver, and finally, yours truly~.

This chapter is what made up the first case in the live-action J-Drama based on the manga, i.e. chapter 12 of the manga = episode 1 of the drama series. Because the manga can exaggerate a few things here and there (and put Touma in a leg lock 8D), it was a lot more fun than the episode, in my opinion. Touma is way too serious in the drama, no fun at all! /pout >:3

Due to exams and the film festival, I actually didn’t work on this part of the chapter at all, not even the group QCing D8 /ashamed

I helped out a bit with the group QC, but that was more or less it. I think that has become my standard job until we start up C.M.B. by the same mangaka ^^’

I was actually supposed to QC this part of the chapter, but got switched to part 1 of chapter 13 since one of our typesetters suddenly went missing! O.o

So because of that, to save time since we were already a few days behind schedule for release, we had one guy (argentscarf) QC and typeset this part.
