An animation that tries to explain the issue of the Fukushima reactors in a simple way for children.

I actually found this almost a week ago thanks to Yukie Dong, a song artist we are having at Genki, and shared on Facebook, but apparently forgot to add it here.

Anywho, the video is a short animation designed to provide a very simple explanation to the situation with the Fukushima reactors, aimed to help children somewhat understand the danger and why it was bad. I thought it was absolutely brilliantly made, and, despite the topic, somewhat funny, which is why I’m spreading it around

ROSKILDE, IT’S SO FAR AWAY FROM COPENHAGEN!! D:

For 2011, Genki has moved to Roskilde in order to house the increased of guests number of guests, as it would be uncomfortable, not to mention illegal (fire safety), to try and fit them all in Valby Kulturhus. A lot of people from the city of Copenhagen, however, have complained about this move, stating that Roskilde is simply too far away and whatnot, despite the increase in travel time being a mere 10 minutes.

While they are entitled to think so, I still believe it is a whiny response, considering that people from Funen or Jutland (not to mention the Ferry Islands!!) travel for hours in stride to get to Copenhagen, yet some (not all!) people from Copenhagen are in outrage from the 10 minute increase of sitting down and being driven. Thus, I felt the pressing urge to parody the reaction.

Showcasing an up-and-coming manga creation software from Japan

コミPo! (ComiPo!) is a new up-and-coming manga creation software, set to be released around Christmas time for the low price of 6,700 Yen ($82/€59) for a download version and 9,700 Yen ($118/€85) for a CD+manual pack.

There’ll be monthly update packs for around 1,000 Yen per pack, which will contains more outfits, poses, expressions, effects, etc. Any manga you make with the program is considered yours, and you are allowed to sell, distribute, and do whatever you want with it. The only thing you aren’t allowed to do is claim copyright for the characters and backgrounds, since the models belong to the company.

The reason I want to show it off is, besides it being super awesome, because that I was approached with the opportunity to translated it into Danish, if it gets localized here! 8D But this is still a gamble, since it’s only IF it gets localized in Denmark and IF I’m the translator they choose. But anyway, here’s a demo video so you can see the awesome for yourselves! And if you’re from Denmark, please support it, as the more people from a specific country supports and shows interest in the programme, the bigger the chance of it being localized here! >.<)b
If you do, hot diggety, here’s another one by Mr. Awesome Music Creativity himself, MysteryGuitarMan.

The video is about a month old and is an obvious reference to the World Cup. He’s been doing requests (hint hint, go there now) and is generally pretty awesome in how he makes his videos. So enjoy! 8D

A TED Talk by Lerry Lessig on how strict copyright rules are killing the incentitive to create and develope.

The recent crackdown on scanlations by major US and Japanese publishers reminded me of a “TED Talk” I once saw on TED about how strict laws are killing creativity because (in a nutshell) if you aren’t allowed to use materials freely, there’s no incentive to create. The talk used AMVs, among other things, as a great example of how user-generated content is ‘hindered’ by copyright laws.

Now I’ll be honest, I do see the point to having copyright laws and I do support it to some extent, cause hey, I’d be pretty annoyed too if someone could just swipe my design and earn money on it while I did all the work and get nothing. On the other hand, I also think that the current rules are much too strict and fixated on saving the copyright holder from losing a buck instead of what it was supposed to be, as according to the US Constitution; something promoting “the Progress of Science and useful Arts“.

A great example of how strict and ‘redundant’ some of these laws are was given by Gever Tulley in another Talk I watched; he said that “you buy a song on iTunes, burn it to a CD, rip it to the same computer you used to buy the song, and you’ve just broken copyright law.” Crazy, eh? But enough of me ranting, please enjoy the video:

A funny, breakfast video in the style of Beethoven's 5th Symphony.

Rather old video, but still pretty funny parody of Beethoven’s Fifth. The title, Asagohan (朝ご飯), means “Breakfast” and is what they are singing about. Sorry for the poor quality, but it’s the only original one I could find with English subs.
