@J Moriarty: Yes, I actually wrote that, but what I pointed out is that you never actually see him shoot-up on screen, so you never get past the "it's implied" stage. I blame censorship >:3 But I guess it's understandable; they don't want to advertise for drug abuse. It's still the truest portrayal of Holmes ever.

@Henryacores, Avatar was the worst movie ever, James Cameron stole alot of the stuff, like plot type, characters, the title, and objects, from other movies. The biggest being the title “Avatar”, which was stolen from the Nickelodeon TV show “Avatar: The Last Airbender”. That movie was a disgrace to Hollywood, which is why at the awards shows the made fun of the crap.

He does use cocaine in the movie. The seen where Watson walks in and Holmes is seducing flies with his violin, Watson picks up a half-empty tiny bottle of liquid and informs Holmes, ” You do that what you are drinking is meant for eye surgery” – Watson. In the 1800’s cocaine was used as an anesthetic, primarily for…..guess what…EYE SURGERY. So there you have it, a hidden drug reference in Sherlock Holmes (2009). BTW, the landlady was Mrs. Hudson, a popular character in the books. :)

@Aucry: While they amped up the action a bit, it is still a far truer portroyal of Holmes, truuuuust me. Holmes isn't some twat of a gentleman who does nothing but use his head; he's an expert in three different types of martial arts, loathes social interaction (with the exception of Watson), he shoots drugs when he's bored, etc. He's a surprisingly dark and cold character in the books.

I’ve also seen this but not on Hecko’s recommendation but my GF who wanted to watch it. Well I can only give credit to this review but I found it lacked real detective work, it was rather an action movie than a detective flick. But it was still good but I couldn’t see much of a connection with Sherlock Holmes to be completely honest.
